2024年8月にEF語学留学をしてきました．その時の様子を簡単に記録しておきます．

学生時代は，大学側が行っていた英会話レッスンに参加したりしていたのですが，語学留学へ行くのは人生初‼
When I was a college student, I took part in English conversation lessons offered by the university, but this is the first time in my life that I have gone on a language exchange programme.
施設 Facility
ドミトリー Dormitory
緊張するかな，と思いきや全く緊張せずに勉強に集中して２週間を過ごすことができました．留学中は，学校の寮に泊まりました．
I thought I would be nervous, but I was not nervous at all and was able to spend two weeks concentrating on my studies. I stayed in the school dormitory during my study abroad.
２人部屋のドミトリー．シャワーとトイレは共有．朝夕の２食付きのご飯という生活．私は少し潔癖なところがあるのですが，案外なんてことなかったです．こういうところでも生活はしていけるのか，と新たな自分の発見でした．
Dormitory for two people. Shared shower and toilet. Breakfast and dinner included. I am a bit of a fastidious person, but it was surprisingly easy. It was a new discovery for me that I can live in a place like this.
シャワー室は確か，５個くらいありました．タオルやリネンは交換する日が決まっていました．
I think there were about five shower cubicles. There was a set schedule for changing towels and bed linen.
食堂 canteen
NYキャンパスには食堂があり，朝と夜の食事は費用に含まれていて，食堂で取りました．メニューは毎日変わるので，飽きることはなかったです．そして何よりおいしい！野菜もあったので良かったです☟
The New York campus has a canteen, and breakfast and dinner were included in the fees, so I ate there. The menu changed every day, so I never got bored of the food. And best of all, it was delicious! It was great that there were vegetables on offer too.
laundry
洋服はランドリールームで選択することができます．
You can wash your clothes in the laundry room.
クラスと授業 classes
私は当時24歳だったので，Under25のクラスで授業を受講しました．留学前にクラスを分けるためのテストがあります．
I was 24 at the time, so I took classes in the Under-25s group. Before you start studying abroad, there is a placement test to determine which class you should be in.
授業はというと，かなり発問してくれる先生でした．英語を話さなければいけない環境にいられて良かったです．
The teacher was quite questioning in class. It was good to be in an environment where I had to speak English.
クラスメイトはイタリア・フランス・ベルギー・コロンビア出身の方でした．
みんな語学学校なんて行く必要なんてないんじゃない？というくらいに英語がペラペラで，びっくりしました．
My classmates were from Italy, France, Belgium and Colombia . I was surprised at how fluent their English was. So I thought that they won’t need to go to a language school.
授業はEFのアプリで管理できるので便利でした．
It was handy that I could manage my lessons via the EF app.
アクティビティ activities
キャンパスがとても広いため，キャンパス内では様々なアクティビティが用意されています．プールやトレーニングルームもあるため，運動不足にはならなかったです．
As the campus is very large, there are plenty of activities on offer. With a swimming pool and a gym available, I certainly didn’t get short of exercise.
体育館での活動 gymnasium
体育館では留学仲間を作れるように日替わりで様々なスポーツを楽しむことができます．
In the sports hall, you can enjoy a different sport every day, giving you the chance to make friends with fellow international students.
野外映画 Open-air cinema
留学先では様々なアクティビティが用意されておりミュージカル鑑賞会やリバティクルーズ観光などなど盛りだくさんでした．アクティビティのおかげで，ずっと見たかった野外映画も観れました😎💓✌️毎日わくわくドキドキ．
There were also a lot of activities at my study abroad destination, such as musical theatre, sightseeing on the Liberty Cruise, and so on. Thanks to the activities, I was able to see an open-air film that I had always wanted to see every day.
夏の星空の下で，「ライオンキング」を鑑賞しました．
Under the summer stars, we watched “The Lion King”.
ニューヨーク観光 sightseeing activities
土日は授業がないので，電車に乗ってニューヨーク市内を観光することができます．EFが様々な観光アクティビティを用意してくれていますが，すぐに予約が埋まってしまいます．留学が始まる前にアプリ登録の案内があるので，その時点で気になるものは予約したほうが良いです．
As there are no classes at the weekend, you can hop on a train and explore New York City. EF organises a range of sightseeing activities, but they tend to book up quickly. You’ll receive instructions on how to register via the app before your course begins, so it’s best to book any activities that take your fancy at that stage.
私は個人的に野球観戦に．２日連続で応援に行きました．おかげで野球少年の腕のように真っ黒に焼けてしまいました．
I had no classes on Saturday and Sunday, so I went to a baseball game again. I went to cheer for two days in a row. Thanks to this, I got burnt black like a baseball boy’s arm😂
スタジアムで野球を観ながら飲むビールは最高でした．
Drinking beer while watching baseball in the stadium was great .🍺
普段ビール飲まないのですが，本当においしくて，１ℓぐびりと飲んでしまいました．
I don’t usually drink beer, but it was really good and I drank a liter of it.
キャンパス周辺のお店 Shops around the campus
CAFE
お気に入りのカフェを見つけて，毎日ソイラテを頼んで勉強していました．そのお店のキッシュも美味しかったです．
I found a favourite café and ordered a soyla latte every day to study. I also enjoyed their quiche.
DUNKIN
アメリカ発祥のDUNKINドーナツも近くにあったので行ってみました．
DUNKIN doughnuts, which originated in the USA, were also nearby, so I went there .
アサイーボウル Acai bowl
お昼はよく近くのアサイーボウルのお店まで歩いて食べに行っていました．
I often walked to a nearby acai bowl shop for lunch.
スーパーマーケットgrocery shop
キャンパスの近くにはスーパーマーケットがあったのでここで食料を購入していました．アメリカのスーパーマーケットで陳列されているアイスクリームの種類の豊富さには驚きました．
There was a grocery shop near the campus, so I used to buy my groceries there. I was amazed by the sheer variety of ice cream on display in American’s.
公園でお散歩 stroll
散歩が大好きで，よく近くの公園で散歩をしていました．夜になると橋がライトアップされてとてもきれいでした．
I loved going for walks and often went for a stroll in the nearby park. At night, the bridge was lit up and looked absolutely beautiful.
感想 Feedback
学校はマンハッタン中心地から少し離れたところにあったので，最初は少しがっかりしていたのですが，暮らしているうちにだんだん好きになりました．
I was a bit disappointed at first because the school was a bit far from the centre of Manhattan, but the more I lived there, the more I liked it.
留学２週目もとても充実した毎日を過ごすことができました．朝から夜までなるべく英語の勉強をするように努力しました．
I was able to spend very productive days during the second week of my study abroad. I made an effort to study English as much as possible from morning till night.
高校生から留学に憧れてたけど，恐怖心と経済面から臆病になって挑戦できずにいました．今回挑戦できて本当によかったなと思っています．英語力が向上したかは定かではないですが．．．(笑)
I have longed to study abroad since I was in high school, but I was too timid to take on the challenge due to fear and financial constraints. I am very glad that I was able to take up the challenge this time. I’m not sure if my English has improved or not.
