マーライオン公園 Merlion Park
コナン君がスーツケースを脱出するのはマーライオン公園。

There was a bridge nearby, where Rishi had explained that a warning had been issued by the Phantom Thief Kid, and fruit juice was being sold beneath it.

マリーナベイ Marina Bay
鈴木財閥はお金持ちなので、マリーナベイのスイートルームに滞在しています。
As the Suzuki conglomerate is very wealthy, they are staying in a suite at Marina Bay.
マリーナベイは滞在しなくてもショッピングモールの中や展望台は入れます。ただし、蘭ちゃんが入っていたプールは宿泊客しか入ることができません。
Even if you’re not staying at Marina Bay, you can still visit the shopping centre and the observation deck. However, only guests are permitted to use the swimming pool.
建物の中は高級ブティックがずらりと並んでいました。館内はヴェネツィアをモデルにした内装で、ゴンドラで移動できます🚤
Inside the building, there was a long row of luxury boutiques. The interior is modelled on Venice, and you can get around by gondola.

夜のショーはどこから見るのが良いか？おすすめ順 Recommended viewing spots
夜の20時からと21時からの2回、無料で噴水ショーを楽しむことができます。金曜日と土曜日は22時からも！映画の中でも海賊船が突っ込む前に、蘭ちゃんが一人で座ってショーを楽しんでいます。
You can enjoy the fountain show free of charge twice a night: at 8 pm and 9 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, there’s also a show at 10 pm! In the film, just before the pirate ship crashes into it, Ran-chan is sitting there on her own, enjoying the show.
ショーは観光客にとても人気なので、見る場所は大事です。私のおススメ順は。。。

人混みを気にせずに、ナイトショーを楽しむことができますよ！夜景ツアー＋日本語付きガイドは少々お値段が１万円と、高額ですが、ナイトショーの時間を気にせず、景色・夜景を楽しみたいなら3,000円ほどでクルーズを楽しむことができます。
You can enjoy the night show without having to worry about the crowds! Whilst the night-view tour with a Japanese-speaking guide is a bit pricey at 10,000 yen, if you’d rather simply enjoy the scenery and night views without worrying about the show’s timetable, you can enjoy a cruise for around 3,000 yen.
②静かに楽しみたいならマーライオン公園から
If you’d like to enjoy it in peace, start at Merlion Park
少し遠くなってしまいますが、マリーナベイをバックに静かに眺めることができます。
Although it’s a little further away, you can enjoy a peaceful view with Marina Bay in the background.
レストランもあるので、お酒を楽しみながら鑑賞している方もいらっしゃいました。こちらは広々としているので、人がたくさんいて見えずらい、という状況にはならないかと思います。
There’s a restaurant there too, so I saw some people enjoying a drink whilst watching the view. As it’s quite spacious, I don’t think you’ll find yourself in a situation where there are so many people that you can’t see properly.
この辺りのレストランは屋外のテラス席もあって食事を楽しみながらショーを楽しめます☟
The restaurants in this area have outdoor terrace seating, so you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the show.
③迫力を楽しみたいならマリーナベイ前から
If you want to experience the full spectacle, head to the area in front of Marina Bay
マリーナベイ前はかなり人がいて、よく見えなかったです。こちらで観たい方は場所取りが必要です。
There were quite a lot of people in front of Marina Bay, so I couldn’t see very well. If you want to watch from there, you’ll need to secure a spot in advance.
ガーデンズ・バイ・ザ・ベイ Gardens by the Bay
毎日19:45～と20:45～ショーが開催されます✨

The Flower Dome is famous as a dome housing plants from arid climates such as the Mediterranean; it is also recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest glass greenhouse.
単体チケットは、大人14シンガポールドル（SGD）、子供（3〜12歳）10シンガポールドル（SGD）です。日本円に換算すると、大人約1,500円〜1,600円、子供約1,100円前後が相場となります。
Single tickets cost 14 Singapore dollars (SGD) for adults and 10 Singapore dollars (SGD) for children (aged 3–12). Converted to Japanese yen, the going rate is approximately 1,500 to 1,600 yen for adults and around 1,100 yen for children.
ガイドブックにはこちらの２つのナイトショーが取り上げられていることが多いですが、もう１つ、セントーサ島でも毎日花火を盛大に使ったショーがあり、こちらもかなりおすすめです。ただこちらは、入場料が無料ではなく2,000円ほどかかります。
Whilst guidebooks often feature these two night-time shows, there is another show on Sentosa Island that takes place every day and features a spectacular fireworks display—this one is also highly recommended. However, admission to this show is not free; it costs around 2,000 yen.

The story follows Shahbaz as he travels through time and space with his friends, exploring various worlds such as the Silk Road, the underwater realm and the African savannah. The fireworks spreading across the night sky against the backdrop of the sea are truly beautiful.

セントーサ島へ続くモノレールの終点は、素敵なビーチ。

① シロソビーチ（Siloso Beach）
アクティブに遊びたい人におすすめ！

パラワンビーチは、比較的ゆったりとした雰囲気で、家族旅行にも向いているビーチです。
特に人気なのが、ビーチから吊り橋を渡って行ける「Southernmost Point of Continental Asia（アジア大陸最南端）」。
吊り橋を渡った先には展望台があり、海を眺めながら記念写真を撮ることもできます。
③ タンジョンビーチ（Tanjong Beach）
静かにリゾート気分を味わいたいならここ！
3つのビーチの中でも、比較的落ち着いた雰囲気を楽しみやすいのがタンジョンビーチ。
ビーチとも入場自体は無料で、セントーサ公式ではビーチの利用時間を基本的に9:00～19:00と案内しています。

ユニバについて教えてもらったのが、下の「リベンジ・オブ・ザ・マミー」というアトラクション。日本にはないんですって。絶叫好きな方はぜひ。
One of the things they told me about Universal Studios was the attraction below, called ‘Revenge of the Mummy’. Apparently, it isn’t available in Japan. If you’re a fan of thrill rides, you really must give it a go.

Set in ancient Egypt, this attraction is an indoor rollercoaster that hurtles through pitch darkness at high speed.

Ya Kun Kaya Toast（ヤ・クン・カヤ・トースト）
シンガポールの朝食といえば、「Ya Kun Kaya Toast」でトーストを食べるのが伝統らしいです。
When it comes to breakfast in Singapore, it seems to be a tradition to have toast at ‘Ya Kun Kaya Toast’.
1919年、Killiney Road（キリニーロード）にあったKheng Hoe Hengという中国の海南からの移民だった店主がやっていたコーヒーショップで、炭火焼きのトーストにバターとカヤジャムをサンドしたものをカヤトーストとして出したのが始まりとされています。
香ばしいパンに甘いカヤジャム、朝の忙しい人々を魅了したカヤトーストはたちまちシンガポールで人気の朝食となりました。
名探偵コナン「紺青の拳」でも蘭ちゃんと怪盗キッドが朝食に食べていたのが、このカヤトースト。

こちらのお店はチェーン店で、シンガポール中心地ならあちこちにあります。値段は温泉卵・コーヒー・トーストがセットになって7.3シンガポールドル。
This is a chain of shops, and you’ll find them all over central Singapore. The price is 7.3 Singapore dollars for a set comprising a soft-boiled egg, coffee and toast.
「ただのパンじゃん？」と思って舐めていたのですが、癖になる味で、シンガポール滞在中に２回も訪れてしまいました。トーストの種類はたくさんあり、(A)カヤジャム、(B)ピーナッツバター、(C)バターシュガー、(D)フレンチトースト、(E)チーズトースト、(F)蒸しパンから選ぶことができます。
I’d written it off, thinking, ‘It’s just bread, isn’t it?’, but the flavour was so addictive that I ended up visiting twice during my stay in Singapore. There’s a wide variety of toast to choose from, including (A) kaya jam, (B) peanut butter, (C) butter and sugar, (D) French toast, (E) cheese toast and (F) steamed buns.
テーブルの横においてあるダークソイソースは、少し甘みのある醤油です。甘いトーストに温泉卵とこのソースをつけて食べると甘じょっぱさが癖になります👍
The dark soy sauce sitting next to the table is a slightly sweet variety. When you dip sweet toast, a soft-boiled egg and this sauce into it, the sweet-and-salty flavour is truly addictive 👍
ちなみに私は、食いしん坊でわがままな性格なので、色んな味を試したい。「ピーナツとシュガートースト」のハーフアンドハーフにして、とぶりっ子してわがままを言いました。
Incidentally, as I’m a bit of a foodie and rather spoilt, I like to try all sorts of flavours. So I acted a bit coy and made a spoilt request, asking for a ‘half-and-half’ of ‘peanut and sugar toast’.
2店舗目で言ったら、「そんなことできないよ。」と言われたのでスタッフによって対応は異なります。(笑)
When I mentioned this at the second branch, I was told, ‘We can’t do that,’ so the response varies depending on the member of staff.

マクスウェル・フードセンター Maxwell Food Centre「天天海南鶏飯」
こちらは園子と京極さんがデートで来ていたホーカー。変なヤンキーが園子様に絡んでくるシーンね。上のチキンライスのお店とその相向かいにあるフルーツジュースのお店でスイカジュースを注文しました。
This is the hawker centre where Sonoko and Mr Kyogoku went on a date. It’s the scene where that odd hooligan starts hassling Lady Sonoko. I ordered some watermelon juice from the fruit juice stall directly opposite the chicken rice stall mentioned above.
安くて美味しい！ぷりぷりのお肉に少しピリ辛いソースとパラパラのご飯が最高でした。
Cheap and delicious! The succulent meat, slightly spicy sauce and fluffy rice were absolutely brilliant.
チリクラブ Chilli Crab
カニを丸ごと使った料理で、ピリピリとした辛さが特徴。
A dish made using whole crabs, characterised by its tingling heat.
豪快に手袋をつけてかぶりつき、我慢できずビールを流す。写真左に移っている四角いパンがもちもちしていて、ソースにディップして食べると最高。少々お値段しますが、おすすめの一品です。
I put on my gloves and tucked in with gusto, unable to resist washing it down with a beer. The square bread visible on the left of the photo has a lovely chewy texture and is absolutely delicious when dipped in the sauce. It’s a bit pricey, but I’d definitely recommend it.
私は、勢い余ってフォークで自分の手を指して流血しました。(笑)
In my enthusiasm, I pricked my hand with a fork and started bleeding.
フルーツジュース Fruit juice
タイでマンゴージュースを飲んでから、マンゴーにはまりました。シンガポールでもあちこちにフルーツジュース店が。
Ever since I had mango juice in Thailand, I’ve been hooked on mangoes. There are fruit juice shops all over the place in Singapore too.
東南アジアに来たらフルーツジュースは外せない。100%なので、フルーツ本来の甘さがそのまま楽しめます。日本で購入するよりもはるかに安いので、ぜひお試しを。
If you’re visiting South-East Asia, fruit juice is a must-try. As it’s 100 per cent pure, you can enjoy the natural sweetness of the fruit itself. It’s far cheaper than buying it in Japan, so do give it a go.
ラクサ Laksa
ラクサは、ココナツミルクの優しい甘みとチリの辛さが絶妙に調和したスープヌードルです。
Laksa is a soup noodle dish in which the gentle sweetness of coconut milk and the heat of chilli are exquisitely balanced.
ひと口スープを飲んでみると、まず感じるのはココナッツミルクのまろやかなコク。そのあとから、唐辛子やスパイスのピリッとした辛さが追いかけてきます。
When you take a sip of the soup, the first thing you notice is the mellow richness of the coconut milk. This is followed by the tingling heat of the chillies and spices.

スターバックス限定グッズ Starbucks Exclusive Merchandise
どこの国でもスターバックス限定デザインはありますが、シンガポールはどこの国よりも種類が豊富でした。マーライオンがモチーフになったデザインのものがかわいくて購入しました。
Every country has its own exclusive Starbucks designs, but Singapore had a wider variety than anywhere else. I bought one featuring the Merlion as its motif because it was so cute.
シンガポールでは日本と同じく秋の名月を楽しむ「中秋節」と呼ばれる文化があり、その際にいただく食べ物「月餅」。（月餅祭ともいう。）
In Singapore, just as in Japan, there is a tradition known as the ‘Mid-Autumn Festival’, during which people enjoy the autumn full moon, and ‘mooncakes’ are the traditional food eaten on this occasion. (It is also known as the Mooncake Festival.)
2000年以上前、宋の時代に秋の収穫後の祭として始まったそうです。また中国人が月を崇拝する伝統に由来していると考えられています。現代では、満月は再会の象徴とも考えられており、丸い月が円を表し、家族が集まり団欒の時を過ごすといった意味合いになっています。
It is said to have originated over 2,000 years ago during the Song Dynasty as a festival celebrating the autumn harvest. It is also believed to stem from the Chinese tradition of worshipping the moon. In modern times, the full moon is also regarded as a symbol of reunion, the round moon represents the circle, signifying a time when families gather to spend time together.
月餅は満月を思わせる丸い形が特徴で、この「丸」は、家族や大切な人との「再会」や「つながり」を象徴しています。こうした意味を込めて、中秋節には月餅を食べる習慣があり、日本のお歳暮のようにお世話になった方へ月餅を贈り合う風習も見られます。
Moon cakes are characterised by their round shape, reminiscent of the full moon, and this ‘roundness’ symbolises ‘reunion’ and ‘connection’ with family and loved ones. With these meanings in mind, it is customary to eat moon cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and there is also a tradition of exchanging them as gifts with those who have been kind to one, much like the Japanese custom of ‘oseibo’ (year-end gifts).

2026年は9月25日がその祝いの日だったらしく、あちこちに月餅が売られていました。運がいいことに、無料でもらえて、いただきました。和菓子の白あん⁇のような味でした。日本の和菓子とは少し異なり、こちらのほうが触感があり甘さ控えめ。
It seems that 25 September 2026 was the day of the festival, and mooncakes were on sale everywhere. As luck would have it, I was given one for free, so I accepted it. It tasted a bit like white bean paste in Japanese sweets. It was slightly different from Japanese sweets, with a more substantial texture and a less sweet flavour.

世界一おいしいポテチ?! The world’s tastiest crisps
サバンナ高橋によると世界一おいしいポテトチップスがシンガポールに売っているらしい。
According to Savanna Takahashi, the world’s tastiest crisps are apparently on sale in Singapore.
これはお土産に買って帰らなければいけない。「Fair Price」というチェーンのスーパーマーケットに駆け込みました。
I simply had to buy some to take home as a souvenir. I rushed into a groserystore belonging to the ‘Fair Price’ chain.
感想は、確かに美味しいですが世界一おいしいかといわれると人それぞれかと。
As for my thoughts, it’s certainly delicious, but if you ask me whether it’s the best in the world, I suppose that’s down to personal taste.
湖池屋のポテチよりもハードな触感でとにかく開封した時のトリュフのいい香りがたまらないです。お酒が止まらなくなる。(そこ大事。)
They’ve got a crunchier texture than Koikeya’s crisps, and the wonderful aroma of truffles when you open the packet is simply irresistible. It makes it impossible to stop drinking. (That’s the important bit.)
トリュフ味のポテチは他の会社からも発売されており、何種類か並んでいました。日本はトリュフ味はあまり見ない気がします🤔トリュフのスナックであれば下の商品のほうが私は好きかな。(笑)
Other companies also sell truffle-flavoured crisps, and there were several varieties on the shelf. I don’t think you see truffle flavours very often in Japan 🤔 If we’re talking about truffle snacks, I think I prefer the product pictured below.

①お酒 Alcohol
シンガポールではお酒は10時までしか販売できないことが法律で定められています。外で飲むとしても10時以降お酒を売ってもいいお店は限られているんだそうです。お酒好きは気を付けて!!
In Singapore, the law stipulates that alcohol may only be sold until 10 pm. Even if you’re planning to drink out, apparently there are only a limited number of establishments allowed to sell alcohol after 10 pm. Alcohol lovers, please be careful!!
②出国前の申請 Application prior to departure
シンガポールではVISAの申請は必要ありませんが、代わりにSGACというシステムの申請を到着３日前から当日までにしなければなりません。オンラインで簡単にできるので、お忘れなく☟
You do not need to apply for a visa to enter Singapore, but you must instead apply via the SGAC system between three days before your arrival and the day of arrival. It’s easy to do online, so please don’t forget.
☆進め方 How to proceed
「submit SGAC」
観光であれば、「Foreign Visitor」を選択したのち、必要な情報を入力してください。
If you are visiting as a tourist, please select ‘Foreign Visitor’ and then enter the required information.
この登録さえ忘れなければ、シンガポールの入国はとてもスムーズで、入国審査で何か英語で聞かれることはなく、日本人であればパスポートのスキャンだけで通過することができます。
Provided you don’t forget to complete this registration, entering Singapore is a very straightforward process. You won’t be asked any questions in English at immigration, and if you are Japanese, you can simply pass through after your passport has been scanned.
③水事情 Water Supply Situation
シンガポールの水はとてもきれいで、水道水が飲めます。
The water in Singapore is very clean, and you can drink the tap water.
ただし、気を付けて欲しいのは公共交通機関、つまりバスや電車の中で飲食は禁止ですのでうっかり水分を取ろうとバスの中で水を飲むと、最高500シンガポールドル（約6万円）の罰金が科せられます。電車やバスの車内だけでなく、駅のプラットホームや改札の内側（構内）もすべて禁止です。
However, please be aware that eating and drinking are prohibited on public transport—that is, on buses and trains—so if you inadvertently take a sip of water whilst on a bus, you may be fined up to 500 Singapore dollars (approximately 60,000 yen). This ban applies not only on trains and buses, but also on station platforms and within the station concourse (beyond the ticket barriers).
ちなみに、ご存じの方は多いかもしれませんが医療目的以外のチューインガムの持ち込み・販売・所持が法律で禁止されており、違反すると最大10万シンガポールドル（約1,000万円）の罰金や禁錮刑が科されることがあります。 こちらもご注意を。
Incidentally, as many of you may already be aware, the import, sale and possession of chewing gum for non-medical purposes are prohibited by law, and violations may result in a fine of up to 100,000 Singapore dollars (approximately 10 million yen) or a prison sentence. Please bear this in mind as well.
④コンセントのタイプ Types of electrical sockets
シンガポールのコンセントはBFタイプです。あの３本足のもの。イギリスと同じで珍しいな、と思ったのですが元々はイギリスの植民地だったということを聞いて納得。
The plug sockets in Singapore are Type BF – the ones with three prongs. I thought it was rather unusual that they were the same as in the UK, but when I learnt that Singapore was originally a British colony, it all made sense.
紅茶のお店が多いのもおそらくイギリスが影響しているのだろうと勝手に納得していました。
⑤ルームキーをなくすと。。If you lose your room key
今回、まさかのホテルのルームキーをうっかり落としてしまうというハプニングがありました。焦ってあちこち探してみましたが、見つからず恐る恐るAIチャットでシンガポールはルームキーをなくすとどれくらい支払わなければならないのか調べると、なんと無料で発行してくれるというのです。
On this trip, I had the unexpected mishap of accidentally dropping my hotel room key. I frantically searched everywhere but couldn’t find it, so, feeling rather nervous, I used an AI chatbot to check how much I’d have to pay if I lost my room key in Singapore—only to discover that they’d issue a replacement free of charge.
そんな、馬鹿な…と思いながらホテルフロントになくしたことを伝えると、快くルームキーを発行してくれました。
Thinking, ‘That can’t be right…’, I informed the hotel reception that I’d lost it, and they kindly issued me with a new room key.
だからといって、無くしても良いというわけではないのですが、、(笑)
That said, it doesn’t mean it’s something we can just do without, but,
⑥セントーサ島で宿泊するメリット The benefits of staying on Sentosa Island
Vivo Cityからセントーサ島までモノレールで向かうのが便利ですが、セントーサ島のホテルに滞在するとなんと滞在期間中は無料でモノレールを利用することができます。何度乗車しても無料!!
Whilst it’s convenient to take the monorail from Vivo City to Sentosa Island, if you’re staying at a hotel on Sentosa Island, you can actually use the monorail for free throughout your stay. It’s free no matter how many times you travel!!
なんてお得なのでしょうか。モノレールチケット売り場のスタッフにその旨伝えると、無料で乗車できるので伝えてみてください。
What a bargain! If you mention this to the staff at the monorail ticket office, they’ll let you travel for free, so do give it a try.
⑦電車・バスの乗り方・タクシーアプリは何がいい？How to use trains and buses – which taxi app is best?
電車・バスの乗り方はとても簡単で、クレジットカードをかざすだけ！
Using the trains and buses is really easy – you just tap your credit card!
私はセントーサ島から空港に向かったのですが、公共交通機関だと、ちょっと時間がかかりすぎたのでタクシーを使いました。シンガポールで使われているアプリは「Grab」というアプリだよ、と知人に教えてもらったので(ありがとうーーー♡)インストールしました。
I was heading from Sentosa Island to the airport, but as it would have taken a bit too long by public transport, I took a taxi instead. A friend told me that the app people use in Singapore is called ‘Grab’ (thank you so much ♡), so I downloaded it.
⑧大気汚染レベルについて Air Pollution Levels
シンガポールの大気は普段は比較的安定していますが、乾燥する時期にはインドネシアなどから煙が流れ込む「ヘイズ」が発生し、一時的に空気の状態が悪化することがあります。
Whilst Singapore’s air quality is usually relatively stable, during dry periods ‘haze’—caused by smoke drifting in from places such as Indonesia—can occur, leading to a temporary deterioration in air quality.
ヘイズが発生すると、空が白く霞んだり、遠くの景色が見えにくくなったりすることも。
When haze occurs, the sky may take on a white, hazy appearance, and it can become difficult to see distant views.
シンガポールでは「PSI」という指数で大気の状態を確認でき、0～50なら「良好」、51～100なら「中程度」、101以上になると「不健康」とされています。
In Singapore, the air quality is assessed using an index known as the ‘PSI’; a reading of 0–50 is classified as ‘Good’, 51–100 as ‘Moderate’, and 101 or above as ‘Unhealthy’.
旅行中は、特にセントーサ島やユニバーサル・スタジオなど、屋外で長時間過ごす予定がある場合は、当日のPSIやPM2.5をチェックしておくと安心です。
While travelling, it is a good idea to check the PSI and PM2.5 levels for that day, particularly if you plan to spend long periods outdoors, such as on Sentosa Island or at Universal Studios.
私が訪れた際にはPSIが100を超えていて、「不健康」の指数でした。１日外で観光していたらのどに違和感がありました。とにかくうがい、マスクをするしか対策がないらしいです。
When I visited, the PSI was over 100, which is classified as ‘unhealthy’. After spending the day sightseeing outdoors, I felt a bit of a tickle in my throat. Apparently, the only things you can do are to gargle and wear a mask.
心配な方はマスクを持参することをおススメします。

⑨スコール Squall
シンガポール旅行で気になるのが、突然降り出す「スコール」。年間を通して雨が多く、平均すると年間171日ほど雨が降ります。
One thing to be aware of when travelling to Singapore is the sudden ‘downpours’. It rains frequently throughout the year, with an average of around 171 rainy days per year.
１日中降るのではなく、晴れていたと思ったら突然空が暗くなり、ザーッと激しい雨が降ることがしょっちゅう。
It doesn’t rain all day; it’s often the case that just when you think it’s sunny, the sky suddenly darkens and there’s a sudden, heavy downpour.
こうした雨は比較的短時間で弱まることも多く、特に午後から夕方にかけて雷を伴う雨が発生しやすいのが特徴です。折り畳み傘やレインコートは忘れずに持っていきましょう！
This sort of rain often eases off relatively quickly, and it is typically accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly from the afternoon into the evening. Don’t forget to bring a folding umbrella or a raincoat!
滞在したホテルを紹介Introducing the hotel where I stayed
本当はマリーナベイに宿泊したかったのですが、予約がいっぱいで泊まれず…違うホテルに泊まりましたが、とっても良かったです！
I’d actually wanted to stay at Marina Bay, but it was fully booked so I couldn’t… I stayed at a different hotel instead, and it was absolutely brilliant!
①Hotel Boss
早めに到着したにもかかわらず、チェックインができました。屋外プールもついていて、とても清潔でした。
Although we arrived early, we were able to check in. There was an outdoor swimming pool, and it was very clean.
アラブストリートに近く、目の前にはバス停もあるのでアクセスも良いです。マリーナベイは見えないですが、景色も良かったです。
It’s close to Arab Street, and there’s a bus stop right outside, so it’s easily accessible. Although you can’t see Marina Bay, the view was lovely.
②ビレッジホテル・セントーサ Village Hotel Sentos
こちらのホテルが最高でした✨
This hotel was absolutely brilliant.
プールが8:00-20:00まで解放されており、プールからの景色はずっと眺めていられます。
外で遊びにいかずとも、このホテルでゆっくり過ごすだけでシンガポールに来てよかったな、と思わせてくれます。
The pool is open from 8:00 to 20:00, and you could spend hours just gazing at the view from the pool.
Even without going out to explore, simply relaxing at this hotel makes you feel that coming to Singapore was well worth it.

コラム Column
ここまで読んでいただくと、シンガポールはとても華やかで、魅力的な場所という印象を持たれるかもしれません。私自身も実際に訪れるまでは、近代的な高層ビルや美しい街並み、整備された観光地など、華やかな一面に目を向けていました。
しかし、少し違った視点からシンガポールを見てみると、政治や労働環境について考えさせられる場面もありました。
シンガポールでは、建設業や造船業などを支える外国人労働者が多く働いています。一方で、低賃金の外国人労働者の労働環境については、国際的な人権団体などから厳しい指摘がされることがあります。特に、インドやバングラデシュなどから来た労働者や、家庭内労働に従事する外国人労働者については、待遇や生活環境をめぐってさまざまな課題が指摘されています。
私が実際にシンガポールを訪れた際にも、工事現場へ向かうと思われる外国人労働者の方々が、小型のトラックに乗って移動している姿を目にしました。
また、外国人労働者の中には、一般の住宅地とは離れた場所にある大規模な寮などで生活している人もいらっしゃるようです。こうした光景を実際に目にすると、観光地からはなかなか見えない、シンガポールのもう一つの側面について考えさせられます。
もちろん、こうした問題だけをもってシンガポールという国全体を判断することはできません。また、外国人労働者の方々の生活や労働環境についても、立場や状況によってさまざまな違いがあると思います。それでも、華やかな都市の発展を支えている人たちが、どのような環境で働き、生活しているのか目を向けられることができてよかったです。これもシンガポール在住の友人に教えてもらいました。
そして、海外を旅すると、日本で当たり前だと思っていたことが、実はとても恵まれた環境だったのだと気づかされることがあります。今回のシンガポール旅行でも、華やかな観光地だけではなく、そこで暮らし、働くさまざまな人々の姿を見ることで、普段とは違った視点から世界を考えることができました。
